This 3-day class is an aggressive immersion into the challenges of surviving with minimal gear in a field setting. THIS IS NOT A BUSHCRAFT CLASS! Students will learn proper knife use, fire building, shelter building, game preparation and land navigation (day and night). The object of the land navigation component of this class is to bring the student’s skills to such a level that he can move off-trail with confidence and employ search and self-rescue techniques (be sure to study our online map/compass course prior to this class). Significant stressors are placed upon the student in the forms of hunger, physical exertion, thirst, lack of gear, personal discomfort, and sleep deprivation as a means to simulate a 72 hour survival scenario. Successful completion of assigned tasks throughout the class will allow the student to garner sustenance and equipment that will enhance his existence. Food and equipment are provided. Please note that no cell phones will be allowed during this class. Please provide your family with our contact information in case there is an emergency that you should be notified of.

BE WARNED: THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS! Students will be required to pass a PT exam before being allowed to continue in the class. All students who wish to sign up must be able to complete a 1.5 mile run in less than 15 minutes, do a minimum of 25 push-ups in one minute and a minimum of 25 sit-ups in one minute. The student will be tested on on their physical fitness at the beginning of the class. Any student who cannot complete the physical fitness test will not be allowed to continue and will forfeit their tuition for this course.

Gear Requirements:

I did the August 2015 Field Survival Class, this was a very tough class but I would do it again in a skinny minute. The physical and mental rigors of the class will break you down, but the instructors and the team will get you through it safely. This is one of the toughest classes I have ever taken but well worth it.

The RAT staff are an amazing group of people with a wealth of knowledge to tap into and teach, but you have to earn it!

I will definitely be going back to try it in the winter, I want to see how the seasons change how you have to survive.

This class is not easy, but it is worth every minute of your time and every penny you invest in it. It is a close simulation of a real life survival scenario and possible challenges one might face along the way to self-rescue, to procure resources, to save injured members etc. You will come close to understanding what it takes to survive, and more importantly, you will learn that the most important assets in a survival scenario are your attitude, your knowledge and skills, and your people. You will come to depend on those three more than any gear and gadgets you bring along. Remember: “teamwork is key” and “attention to details”. So work together and take notes.
    Good luck.

I cannot recommend this class enough. This is a very tough challenge… both mentally and physically. This course will make you want to quit, but if you just keep pushing on and be sure to work as a team then you will finish this course.

This course is worth every penny that you pay for it. Also, the more you put in, the more you will get out. The instructors are absolutely incredible and they want you to succeed. I cannot wait to take more classes from this amazing group of people.

I attended the 2017 Field Survival Class and it was an unforgettable experience that will be with me forever! Randall’s Adventure & Training school is the place to go to if you want in-depth/real life situation knowledge in how to survive in the wilderness or any kind of element really. Their experience out in the field reassures me that I’m getting the tools and techniques that will be able to help me or others if I am in a bad situation. I’d highly recommend any class that Randall’s Adventure & Training school to anyone looking to gain survival knowledge or just wanted to learn something new. I’m looking forward in attending more classes from this crew!
