The Basic Rescuer course complies with ASTM F2752-19, Standard Guide for Training for Basic Rope Rescuer Endorsement which defines the basic training required for a person who participates in rope rescue as part of a larger rescue duty. This course also complies with NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, 2021 edition, Rope Rescue, Chapter 5, Awareness Level. This is not a certification course.

The Basic Rescuer course is a 16-hour in-person course that defines the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a person to assist with, and support, basic rope rescue operations (under qualified supervision). 

This course is being offered at no charge to RAT-SAR and other SAR teams that work with RAT-SAR. This is an awareness level course designed for search and rescue personnel who have no previous rope rescue experience.

Required Gear:
